“Karori”
Karori is a 6 acre hill station property on the Southern slopes of Mount Macedon. The house was built as a summer retreat in 1888 by Charles William Chapman who was originally from New Zealand. Chapman brought from New Zealand the Italian born architect Louis Boldini to design his new house. Chapman named the house “Karori” after the suburb of Karori in Wellington(NZ), where he lived.
Karori is of architectural, historical, aesthetic and scientific (botanical and horticultural) significance to the State of Victoria and the house and garden  has been included on the Register of Heritage Victoria (H2281). Karori is one of the major gardens on Mt.Macedon and contains an important collection of conifers and deciduous cool climate plants, especially North American and New Zealand species.
The restoration and preservation of Karori will be completed in April 2013.
